a simple Valentine's Day
We had a different kind of Valentine's Day with Seth being invited to go play with a friend for part of the day. I forgot to make cards for the kids the night before, so I quickly whipped three cards together in the morning. This one was Laura's and she loved it. Seth's card was not so great to look at it, but the promise of time to play games after we had just finished our Morning Time sent him whooping through the house. Those game times didn't happen because of his unexpected play date, but the thrill of being free from his other lessons was a gift better than chocolate I think.
I didn't get anything for them, but I did open up the wonderful golden Lindt box, a gift from our visiting friends Norma and Victor and they indulged in a piece of yummy chocolate. The girls and I played while the snow piled up outside and rest time came. It was a break from our usual routine and the pressure to keep going was relieved. It was Shane's last day of work as he starts a new job at a new company this coming week. I didn't really have a great dinner planned, but made an comforting pot of potato soup with bacon and corn. It was a nice evening together after the kids were in bed.
